Alcoholism and alcohol addiction are often seen as less serious than drug addiction due to their social acceptance. The person should not be allowed to blame his or her issues on other people or situations for their addiction to alcohol. Only when one can take full responsibility for their actions will they be able to accept change and decide to live a new life.
