How Narconon Participates in the Community

Narconon Community Outreach

Year round, Narconon goes into the community to get one step closer to a drug-free, crime-free world.  They do this in a myriad of ways, but all of them involve reaching out to the community and lending a helping hand.

County Fairs

Every summer counties across the United States have their annual county fairs.  Businesses all over the community come and set up booths to bring awareness to their services.  Narconon is no different.  Narconon has a booth that reaches out to families in need and brings fun and excitement to kids.  Narconon gives away free prizes to children and sends them on their way with a “10 Things Your Friends May Not Know About Drugs” booklet.  Narconon’s goal at these events is to provide information that will help prevent individuals ever trying drugs.  Narconon also hopes to give enough information to people who have already tried drugs to help them change their minds about them.   At the county fairs, Narconon often meets teachers in the area who arrange to have free drug education delivered to their schools.

Classrooms

Narconon is a rehabilitation program, but it is also a drug education and prevention program.  Each day during the school year, Narconon Drug Educators go into the schools in their communities to educate kids regarding the truth about drugs.  Instead of scaring the kids away from drugs like programs tried to do in the past, Narconon gives the students the facts in hopes that they will make good personal decisions when it comes to drugs.  They have found that giving the kids the truth about drugs and the power of choice is a much more effective method for steering them in the right direction.  Narconon believes that people are essentially good and if given the truth they will likely make the best decision for themselves.  Word of mouth is Narconon’s most powerful promotional tool, and each year more and more schools are reaching out for this free service that Narconon provides its community.

National Night Out

Narconon has teamed up with National Night Out, an event held yearly to promote community awareness and strengthen community relations with local public safety organizations.  It is always a really fun event for the people who come out and participate.  Dinner and entertainment is free, and there are plenty of activities for the kids. These events are a huge success with over 500 people in attendance at each location. The driving force behind this success is Narconon’s staff. Their positive attitude and dedication makes each event a prosperous one. This act of donating time to better their communities is selfless and truly going beyond the expectations of a Drug Treatment Center.

Car and Motorcycle Races

Narconon has been known to help out at community events like car and motorcycle racing.  Narconon staff members will volunteer at these events doing everything from tearing tickets to checking people in as a way to get their name out there and create good public relations with other local betterment groups.

School Dances

Narconon realizes that giving high school kids a safe place to celebrate can be a difficult undertaking, so they help schools in their communities organize sober events for their students.  Narconon will plan the event for the school and staff it with its own employees.  Narconon staff members will chaperone the festivities and make sure that there are no drugs or alcohol brought into the event or used there.  Schools love this because it gives them a chance to stand back while letting an experienced crew make the event a safe and secure one.

Toys for Children in Need

Narconon reaches out to women’s shelters in their communities and remains active in their lives by bringing food to the shelters and delivering presents to the children at Christmas time.  There is nothing more uplifting than happy children and this is just part of what Narconon does to ensure that kids grow up happy, productive and free from drugs.

Narconon’s Goal

Narconon’s goal is a drug-free, crime-free world.  They have set up centers all over the planet to help people free themselves from drug and alcohol addiction and become productive, happy members of society.  Most of these centers also offer free drug education to the schools in their communities.  They do this as a way of preventing children from doing drugs before they have started.  Each day Narconon works selflessly and tirelessly towards their goal in hopes of one day living in a world where everybody reaches their full potential as happy, productive members of a drug-free and crime-free society.
